What Are Flashcards?

Flashcards are an essential tool of the Shichida Method.

Since the inception of the Shichida Method, “flashcard sessions” have been a core part of early childhood education. Designed especially for children aged 0 to 6 - when the brain is in its most critical period of development - flashcards are used to stimulate the right brain through high-speed, high-volume input. This helps unlock a child's natural potential, such as photographic memory, lightning-fast calculation ability, and powerful imagination - skills often likened to those of a computer or a world-class artist.

Flashcard sessions are not primarily about delivering information or teaching facts. How to use Multiplication Flashcards

Set the Scene for Success

Create a calm, positive learning environment by removing distractions such as toys, TV, or devices. Choose a regular time each day - such as before or after a meal - so your child gets used to a predictable routine. A consistent setting helps children focus and enjoy the process.
Flash the Cards the Shichida Way
1. Starting with the card at the back, bring the card to the front and read the formula out
  loud (make sure the formula side is facing your child).
2. Show and say the answer to the formula at the same time.
Follow the Learning Stages
Rotate through different practice modes to make learning fun and effective:
1. Standard Order : Read aloud in order from the start to finish(e.g. 1×1=1, 1×2=2…1×10=10).
2. Reverse Order : Read aloud cards in the reverse order (e.g. 9×1=9, 8×1=8…).
3. Random Order: Shuffle the cards and go through them in any order.
4. Quiz Mode: Go through the cards in random order asking your child what the answer would be.
