Unlock the power of early maths skills and right-brain learning — the Shichida way!

This is not just another set of number cards. Developed by early childhood education pioneer Dr. Makoto Shichida, these cards are a cornerstone of the Shichida Method — focusing on whole-brain development from as young as 6 months old.

Designed to enhance your child’s intuitive number sense, this specially curated set of dot flashcards helps children develop strong mental calculation skills before formal schooling begins.

Ideal for home educators and parents looking to nurture their child’s whole brain, this set lays the foundation for exceptional mental calculation and cognitive skills — all while having fun.

What is The Shichida Method Dot Flashcard Set?

The Shichida Method Dot Flashcard Set is a specially designed learning tool that teaches young children to recognise quantity, not just count numbers. By using dots grouped in meaningful patterns, children develop number sense - the ability to “see” and understand numbers at a glance. This approach builds powerful right-brain image recognition skills that translate into fast mental maths and a lifelong love of learning.

Skills to be developed with The Shichida Method Dot Flashcard Set

    • Develop a Natural Sense for Numbers

By exposing children to quantities visually through colourful dot patterns, this set nurtures subitising - the ability to instantly recognise how many items are in a group without counting. This intuitive number sense becomes the foundation for advanced mathematical thinking and helps children understand numbers as quantities, not just symbols.

    • Build Strong Calculation and Thinking Skills

Through daily short flashcard sessions and fun follow-up activities, children learn to mentally combine and break apart numbers, strengthening their addition and subtraction skills. This early exposure boosts logical thinking, concentration, and problem-solving ability - essential skills that go beyond maths and benefit overall learning.

    • Activate the Right Brain with Engaging Visual Learning

The vibrant dot designs include animals, fruits, stars and more - captivating children's attention while stimulating their right brain. This activation supports creative thinking, pattern recognition, and even memory retention. Children stay engaged and motivated through play-based learning that feels more like fun than study.

    What Are Flashcards?

Flashcards are an essential tool of the Shichida Method.

Since the inception of the Shichida Method, “flashcard sessions” have been a core part of early childhood education. Designed especially for children aged 0 to 6 - when the brain is in its most critical period of development - flashcards are used to stimulate the right brain through high-speed, high-volume input. This helps unlock a child's natural potential, such as photographic memory, lightning-fast calculation ability, and powerful imagination - skills often likened to those of a computer or a world-class artist.

    Not Just About Teaching Knowledge

Flashcard sessions are not primarily about delivering information or teaching facts. Instead, the goal is to rapidly flash each card to stimulate the brain, awakening the right hemisphere and encouraging whole-brain balance and development. The process supports intuitive learning and strengthens core cognitive abilities in a fun and engaging way.

    Strengthening the Parent-Child Bond

The right brain is often called the "relaxed brain," and when flashcards are used together with a parent, it becomes more than just an educational activity. It becomes a bonding experience. Flashcard sessions nurture a deep sense of connection between parent and child, while also fostering emotional development and a rich, imaginative mind.

How to use The Shichida Method Dot Flashcard Set

    • A Clear 90-Day Programme – No Guesswork Needed!

The Dot Flashcard Set follows an easy-to-use 30-day × 3-round learning programme. Each day’s flashcards are pre-organised and ready to go — simply pull out the cards for the day, flash them quickly, and you're done in just a few minutes. No prep, no stress.

And best of all? It’s filled with fun visual elements that keep your child excited to come back day after day!

    • Step 1: Card Flashing (First Round – Input Phase)

Begin with daily high-speed card flashing. Each session includes around 10–40 cards and takes only a few minutes. Start with the "Numbers Module" to build intuitive number recognition, then progress to the "Calculation Module" for addition, subtraction, and even early times tables.

    • Step 2: Confirmation Sheets (Second Round – Visual Check-In)

After repeating the card flashing in the second round, use the included confirmation sheets to assess your child’s progress. These fun, game-like questions help you see how well they can recognise quantities at a glance. Encourage them to answer by pointing - no counting allowed!

Try playful techniques like countdowns or briefly showing the sheet before hiding it to make it feel like a fun game, not a test.

    • Step 3: Confirmation Workbook (Third Round – Output Phase)

In the final round, your child completes two activity sheets per day from the 63-page workbook. These pages help them output what they’ve learned by drawing circles, writing numbers, and solving visual puzzles - reinforcing brain pathways built during the earlier phases.
